Silver mirror

Got a chance today to make up some neck pieces, this one is a bit different and I liked the way it turned out. I named it Silver mirror because it was difficult to photograph without getting my reflection in the square piece ( as you can see from my fingers in the bottom left ) LOL

Here comes the Summer

The Scrapwest theme this week was set by Noelle and was titled " Here comes the summer ". I stamped the images and added colour with watercolours. I then highlighted with diamond glaze and embellished with tiny flip-flops a flower and some brads.

Paper flower

I bought this Ellison flower die months ago but never used it, so today I thought I would give it a try and here is the result. Not sure what it could be used for ? maybe a table display or a box? The finished flower is about 4 1/2 by 4 1/2. I made the centre with wire and beads.

Farmers market

Last night there was a program on RTE showing a Farmers market in a church grounds near where I live, every time we pass it we say we must drop in, so today we did, it was lovely to walk around and see all the cakes, fresh fruit and veg, fish and even jewellery. People were sitting around having tea/coffee while listening to a man entertaining them by playing some live jazz music, it was all very relaxing .We called into the Garden centre on the way home and bought some lovely plants to brighten up the summer garden. As I said before this camera has really opened my eyes to all that is around me.

Remember when

I came across this card today and thought how nice it is to make a very simple card like this and still like it months later,When most of the time we try so hard to make complicated things that take ages and are still not happy with the end result. Sometimes less really is more.

Summer roses

I took this photo this afternoon in my Mother and Fathers garden, I am enjoying playing around with the different ways to achieve light, these roses are climbers so are up high facing the sky but by locking in light they look like they against a white background.

Malahide

We went out for a drive today and on the way heard on the radio that there was a Scottish pipe band festival in Malahide so we headed out that way, they were only setting up when we arrived but I managed to snap a few kilts, They came from the left and came from the right had a chat in the middle and all went to the pub ( as you do ).I think all the younger Scots were already inside couldn't find any , And sorry Jan ( Tigger ) there wasn't a breeze to be found , it was a very mild day.

Snapped a few flowers along the way. ( As I do )

Bling

My Scrapwest submission for this week. The theme was BLING and was set by Audrey. I bought these shoes on holiday and believe me when you saw them in the sunshine they were bling, I never wore them they were too white and shiny to get dirty LOL. I still have them in the box. The shiny gems don't show up well in the photos. All the submissions this week were beautiful with great photos as usual.( I cant leave a comment on the scrapwest blog so well done everyone )

Emerald Green

I am trying to push myself to try coiling wire ( badly need lessons), the main bead I tried to coil the wire around ,the smaller round two I bought and put the beads inside . Coiling is not as easy as it looks. I love the different shades of green in this piece not quite forty but maybe six =0)

A walk around Grafton Street

WE went into Grafton Street today and brought the camera along. First we walked through the Iveagh Gardens and I was delighted to see this beautiful waterfall and swirly forged gate. ( If you click on the gate you will see it in more detail)
WE then paid a visit to Phil Lynott and Molly Malone.Very popular tourist attractions. You could be standing there all day trying to get a photo there are so many people posing in front of these two.
The life-size bronze statue of Phil Lynott was unveiled on Harry Street, off Grafton Street in 2005.
The famous Molly Malone Statue is located at one end of Grafton Street near Trinity College. Legend says she was a fishmonger who sold her 'wares' on the streets of Dublin in the 1600's.
On into Lush where I don't know what hits you first the fantastic colours or the aromas,
After that we went into the George's Street mall where I couldn't help snapping these great legs they made me laugh.

And last but not least went to Dubray bookshop and picked up this book written by a friend of Laineys to read on my Holidays,
had a peep and looks good.

Blue Glass

The two centre beads are round blue glass. I always automatically team blue up with silver ,not sure if gold would work ( must try it ).

Just for fun

I loved making these cards after a sizzix class at Crafteire 06, I have so many sizzix dies, I must start using them again, everyone loves the little bees/butterflies especially children and of course there is the pint of Guinness Bee for all the men .Like everything else we keep buying ns and forget what we already have. There are so many new die cut machines out there now to choose from but I think if you have invested in one its better to try to get the most out of the one you have as it is expensive to build up your collection. And like everything else , no matter which one you choose there is always a "newer model " on the way .
