Summer Sizzler

The Scrapwest theme this week was " Summer Sizzler " and was set by Eva. I decided to use a vintage image but not to make a vintage looking card . I added the photo to some pale pinks , creams and vellum with gold text to keep it bright. I finished it off with a sun charm and butterfly tag, stamped with a daisy image and gold embossed then tied through pink eylets with soft natural twine .

It's the little things.

This weeks Scrapwest theme was set by Caroline and was a tough title for a cardie so I opted for another Layout =0) Most of the LO was made up from presents I received from fellow crafters over the past few months. ( Thanks everyone ) I used rubber stamps for the zig-zag stitching. I chose the photos because they show Stephen enjoying Comfort, Laughter and play. Little things everyone needs.

It is a while since I got the chance to make up some bead pieces , I rarely make gold coloured pieces so thought I would give it a try with green beads and filigree heart. The one on the right has amethyst beads in a silver coloured hinged case.

Watercolour cards

Today I went to Laineys Crop and had a relaxing day at the card table demonstrating some watercolour techniques while the scrappers got stuck into their layouts. The room was buzzing ( as always) with the usual faces and some newcomers too. It's great to meet up with everyone every month.
These are a few of the cards I brought along . I used watercolour paint, pencils, markers and crayons on stamped images.

Celtic Inspired

The theme for Scrapwest this week was set by Carrie and was " Celtic inspired " These stamps were on an unmounted sheet I used for my Celtic class in Crafteire and the large Celtic design is my favourite. I embossed the three images with gold embossing powder. I would love to say I painstakingly embossed the white Celtic letters in the background and used some type of fancy distressing technique for the metallic paper but I have to admit both are wallpaper. lol I finished off the card with a metal swirl.

Bleached images

I was sorting out my Picture Trail and
found these cards I made a long time ago using
bleach to fade the ink. It can give an aged effect when used with browns or a more modern look
with bright blues etc. I have forgotten about so many of the techniques I tried over my card making years, I love this one.

Scrapwest " Tag"

The theme for Scrapwest this week was " Tags" and set by Annamarie.I wanted to submit something bright So went for a simple red and white Sizzix tag, stamped with a teddy image I have had years. It is one of those images that can be used over and over again and never Goes out of fashion. I finished the card off with paper flowers , gems dotty ribbons and a swirl die cut.

Bling, Bling, Bling

I made this piece as a challenge to myself, the centre piece caught my eye ( and if you saw it irl you would see why ) it is so glittery you cant miss it lol a real light catcher. It turned out it was originally a ring ( A very big ring ) but the ring part was broken off. Soooooo I mounted it on a gold backing piece and added more glitz and it really is eye catching, A simple little black dress with this piece and you're dressed. All I need now is the little black dress.

Maritime Festival

Entertainment on Dublin's Docklands.
We went to the Docklands Maritime festival today when the rain eventually stopped,There was a mixture of everything there and I must say I enjoyed it. Not too sure about the fish head photo lol it looks like that bar is going in one way and out the other.

There was a buzz in the air with live music, Cooking, novelty street entertainers and stalls selling everything from soaps to kangaroo/Ostrich burgers ( which I didn't try ) There were some beautiful Tall ships on the Liffey too.

This dress was made from knitted scarves. BTW if some of these photos are making you dizzy dont worry about it they are having the same effect on me =0)

Birds of a feather

This weeks Scrapwest theme was Set by Ruth, and was " Birds of a feather ". I used alcohol inks for the backgrounds ( which I have months but never seem to use ) and a kingfisher stamped image, water coloured and dimensional magic added for gloss. I mounted the layers and added a pewter piece and co-ordinating ribbons to finish it off. All the SW entries were great again this week .

Note the new Scrapwest logo and scrapwesties photo. Click on the logo to bring you to the Scrapwest site ( Thanks Eva =0)
